Question:
Can God forgive my sexual sin?
Answer:
God can forgive sexual sin. God forgives every sin. In a very, very real
sense, Christ is an equal-opportunity die-er. That is, Christ has died for
every imaginable sin.
Oftentimes, with any form of addiction, there comes guilt, shame,
worthlessness, and a person goes out swimming in that stuff. You’re
too important to God to do that to yourself. God enjoys and delights in
who you are. He doesn’t want you to be enslaved by guilt and shame.
In fact, what we need to remember is that God took very seriously
what we’ve done wrong. God takes very seriously sexual sin. He took
it so seriously that He had His Son die for it, so that issue, as far as
guilt is concerned, is taken care of.
Now He wants to bring liberation. He has provided the foundation for
the rescue, by having an infinite price paid for guilt, shame, and
worthlessness. Now we can come to God as a good dad, as a good
father, to find help in this time of need.
Don’t worry about the guilt involved with sexual sin. Christ took care
of that. Be concerned about opening up your heart and your
relationships to the Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
