Question:
Why do people separate their faith from their work?
Answer:
I find that there is a common tendency for people to separate their
faith from their work.
Why is this? Well, the roots of it may go back to 1,000 years before
Christ, where there was this notion that if you were in the spiritual
dimension, you were in a higher realm, and if you were in the common
dimension, it was a lower realm. This idea that the Greeks espoused
really has seeped into our culture in amazing ways.
Today, we think of the distinction between secular and sacred. Well,
the New Testament really doesn’t make these distinctions at all— and I
find that if people get a full understanding of the Christian faith,
they’re going to want to bring these two worlds together, and not
separate them, one and the other.
