iQuestions Faculty, Randy and Elizabeth Draper
Question:
As the leader in my company, where can I go to get additional
training?
Answer:
RANDY: When you’re trying to be a leader in your own home-based
business find resources that help you to learn how to be a better
leader. Your company will never be able to give you enough
information or training in that area, so you’ve got to be a continuing
student.
You’ve got to go to the bookstore or go online. One of my favorite
authors is John Maxwell. Everything he has written on leadership is
fantastic: The 360 Degree Leader, Failing Forward, Developing the
Leader Within You, Developing the Leaders Around You. Those are
some great books by John Maxwell.
ELIZABETH: Nowadays, we spend a lot of time in the car, so you may
want to invest in some books on tape. When you’re driving or going
different places you can just pop one of those tapes in and listen to it.
Even if you just listen to it ten minutes a day while you’re going here
and there, you will be surprised how much you will conquer in just that
amount of drive time.
When you feel encouraged, and you get a new idea that you want to
share, that gets you excited and fired up to share that with your
leaders, and then in return, they pass it on.
RANDY: And ask questions. We meet people that are leaders in other
companies, leaders in different businesses, and we just ask questions.
Ask them how they are doing with this area or that area of their
business. You learn from just being around people who are out there
running businesses.
Don’t be afraid to ask, and don’t be afraid to be looking for people who
have a business going.
ELIZABETH: Questions are the key to growing your business. The only
dumb question is the question that is never asked. So don’t be afraid
to pick other people’s brains and discover some things they do that
helps them in their business that you can then translate and put into
your business, and be really effective that way.
