iQuestions Faculty, Michael and Amy Smalley
Question:
Some people claim that oral sex isn't really sex. What do you think?
Answer:
MICHAEL: Is oral sex really sex? We want to be very clear that, yes, it
is. Culturally, there is this big debate, and even at high schools they
are saying, “Oh, no. It’s actually more intimate to kiss than to have
oral sex.”
AMY: That is crazy. Oral sex is sex. If you are even asking that
question, it probably means that you are being pressured to perform
oral sex.
And we want to say, run for the hills if that is you in a dating
relationship.
MICHAEL: Here’s the really stupid thing, we can transmit sexually-
transmittable diseases through the act of oral sex. We get into a lot of
trouble when we want to dumb-down what things are.
And again, when we save that for a marital relationship that is
committed for the long haul, then we can enjoy each other. But until
then, keep things at a healthier level.
