Question:
Is it really possible for a man to have multiple orgasms during a single
intercourse session?
Answer:
Is it possible for men to have multiple orgasms? Well, let’s define
multiple orgasm.
When we talk about it in the literature, we’re speaking of having one
orgasm after the other. Sometimes, we talk about it like riding the
wave, that you never really go back into resolve— that you never calm
down afterward. They just kind of come one after another. In that
respect, no, it’s not possible for men to do that.
Because of a chemical that’s released in our system during orgasm, it
shuts down our ability to have an orgasm very quickly after. In fact,
we call that time between orgasms the refractory period.
Now, when we’re young, that refractory period can be quite short. So,
we can have sex— we can have orgasms, pretty rapidly after each
other, having only a few minutes in between.
For men who are getting older in their sixties or seventies, this may be
even a couple of days or longer between times when they can
experience an orgasm.
The challenge for both old and young men might be to shift away from
being orgasm-focused. Remember, sex is mostly about the connection.
It’s about oneness. It’s about creating intimacy and coming together.

And whether you experience an orgasm in two minutes, or whether it
takes three days, you can still work on connecting intimately with your
spouse— where you look deep into each other’s eyes, where you hold
each other, where you caress, where you help each other to feel safe
and warm and connect with each other. That’s more important than
the orgasm anyway.
While the orgasms are great, allow your body to be who and what it is,
and really work on the connect time and the oneness that you can
create in sexual intimacy.
